Our Mission:

DALAC’s mission is to stop the cycle of domestic abuse through legal advocacy. Legal advocacy is critical action that can help to redefine a domestic abuse victim’s personal safety and security to overcome traumatic experiences and can ultimately lead to breaking the cycle of domestic abuse.

Every day, people enduring domestic abuse face impossible choices. Today and every day, domestic abuse victims leave their abuser even though doing so exponentially increases the possibility that the abuser will follow through on the repeated threat - death. This is not an exaggeration. 75% of domestic violence related homicides occur upon separation.

Domestic violence does not discriminate. It impacts every race, religion, socioeconomic class, age, disability, occupation, gender, sexual orientation, family type, rural communities, urban communities, and education level. Its economic impact just here in the United States is more than $8 billion dollars per year. While the economic devastation is significant, the mental, emotional, and psychological toll is heartbreaking.

Please join us in being part of the solution:

  1. Familiarize yourself with domestic violence and the different ways in which abuse occurs in a relationship: see Power and Control Wheel developed by https://www.theduluthmodel.org/
  2. Educate the entire office about domestic violence and trauma. Start here: National Gender-Based Violence Learning Community Domestic Violence 101 Course - https://gbvlearningcommunity.org/Courses/CourseDetails/125 and  https://ncdvtmh.org/
  3. Commit to a corporate sponsorship and/or participate as a golfer or as a Raising Awareness Super Ticket holder, which allows our organization, Domestic Abuse Legal Advocacy Center, PSC, to fulfill our mission: stop the cycle of domestic abuse through legal advocacy.
